Last Saturdays returns to downtown Fort Wayne at the end of August for a day filled with good food, fun, music, art, baseball, and cinema. Kickstart your Labor Day weekend by spending August 31 in downtown Fort Wayne. There is a wide range of things to do that is fun for the whole family, and spread across the entire day.
Start by stopping by the YLNI Barry Street Market or Ft. Wayne’s Farmers Market between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Barr Street. There will be free admission to the History Center next door during market hours. There are all kinds of organic and local finds, from food and drinks to original crafts and art pieces.
Afterwards, stop by the Botanical Conservatory and check out the Gardens of New Orleans for a true taste of the south. When you are done, walk over to Stoners for some fun finds. Dick Stoner will be showing how to do magic tricks throughout the day.
You can grab lunch at any of downtown Fort Wayne’s dining options including Pint and Slice, Coney Island, or Toscani’s. You can even have some fresh iced coffee from Downtown Grind. There is a wide range of dining options to leave you feeling satisfied and ready for your next adventure downtown.
Spend the day at Science Central, Headwaters Park, Pranayoga, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, walking the streets of West Central, or do some shopping at House of Furniture. After you have walked around the city, it might be time to give your feet a rest. There is no better place to relax than at Parkview Field. The TinCaps will be taking to the field at 7:00 p.m. with a fireworks show afterwards.
If you want a little more variation, try Rock the Plaza at the ACPL Plaza, the midnight movie series at the Cinema Center, or the National CANvention at the Grand Wayne Center.
