Downtown Fort Wayne will be bustling this weekend with the return of Last Saturdays. The forecast is calling for temperatures in the lower 70’s with a nice breeze which is perfect weather for all of the events taking place. Dress for the heat, meet your friends downtown, and stay downtown all day. We promise to keep you busy and entertained. There will be something for everyone.
For those that love the heritage of our oldest market, YLNI’s Barr Street Market returns on Saturday morning from 9 a.m - 1 p.m. Before or after you get done with your shopping at the Market, you can stop in at the History Center that is offering free admission during market hours. The museum will keep you cool from the heat and it will remind you of Fort Wayne’s beautiful heritage.
If you aren’t participating in Fort4Fitness, we suggest grabbing a seat and watching the bikers as they ride throughout downtown. You can buy lunch from any of our downtown lunch spots and sit outside and enjoy the weather before an afternoon or evening filled with fun.
Stop by House of Furniture, Creative Women of the World, Stoner’s, or many other downtown shops. You can also stop by Science Central for their “Wild Minds: What Animals Really Think” exhibit, Artlink, FWMoA, or the “Butterflies with an African Beat” exhibit at the Conservatory. Each of these exhibits are family-friendly and are a great idea for a day date.
But wait, there’s more! BeatleFest takes the stage from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. at the ACPL Plaza and Fort Wayne’s Almost Famous showcases the talents of local teens including live bands, dance groups, acoustics, singers, and more in the 900 block of Calhoun Street. Afterwards, stop by the Brass Rail, Club Soda, or Hall’s Gas House. All three locations will be offering live music in the evening.
Lastly, stop by Cinema Center at Midnight for a screening of cult-favorite Fight Club. Remember the first and second rule of Fight Club: Don’t talk about Fight Club. The first and second rule of Last Saturdays: Talk about Last Saturdays. Always talk about Last Saturdays. You can share your pictures with us on Facebook or connect with us at @FWDID on Twitter, and use #LastSaturdays! See you there!
